The Cyrus Cylinder

... was adopted as a national symbol of Iran in 1971, to commemorate 2,500 years of the Persian Empire. A replica was presented to the UN by Princess Ashraf Pahlavi, sister of the Shah, in October 1971; it was put on display with a translation of the declaration into all the official languages of the UN.

The original is in the possession of the British Museum, which sponsored the expedition that discovered it in 1879.
